Former Zimbabwean defender and now Supersport United coach Kaitano Tembo made history today by claiming his first ever trophy as head coach after his team edged Highlands Park 1 - 0 in the Mtn8 final.

Last season Tembo failed to clinch the Mtn8 cup after his side lost to Cape Town City in the tournament final.

Sensational striker Bradley Grobler's halftime goal was enough to get Supersport United to the promised land.

Although Highlands Park tried to level the matters even through the tenacity of Zimbabwean striker Tendai Ndoro, Supersport wouldn't have any of that and the mentorship of Tembo eventually paid off.

Supersport United now have three Mtn8 trophies in their coffers as a result of today's match. Kaitano Tembo's boys also pocketed themselves a whopping 8 million Rand.

Highlands Park coach Owen Da Gama had no love lost for Tembo, "Tembo has done a fantastic job from being a player to an assistant coach now the head coach I am very happy for him, we are building a team that will be able to compete at such a level in three or four years time."
