Mwonzora's MDC mourns Chief Mashayamombe and Chief Marozva

On behalf of the MDC-T party and indeed on my own behalf I wish to convey our deepest condolences to the President of the Council of Chiefs, Chief Fortune Charumbira, the Mudhe family, Chiketa family, the National Chiefs Council and the entire nation on the passing of Chief Mayamombe and Chief Marozva.

Chief Marozva was a former Senator who worked tirelessly for his people. His contribution to the COPAC was immeasurable. He was loved by his subjects because he was a just man and a good traditional leader.

The Marozva Chieftainship has been robbed of a great leader. Chief Mashayamombe came from a distinguished line of chiefs, famous for the June 1896 rebellion against white occupation in the Mhondoro-Hartely (now Chegutu) area.

Chief Mashayamombe had a passion for education and in 2013 he attained an earned Master of Science degree from the University of Zimbabwe. The Mashayamombe chieftaincy has lost a pillar.

Zimbabwe is poorer without traditional leaders. We are together with the Marozva and Mashayamombe Chieftaincies at this difficult time.

May the souls of the departed chiefs rest in eternal peace.
