Illegal use of the ZPP icon by Advocate Nelson Chamisa and MDC Alliance

20 Jan 2021 at 06:38hrs | Views
The Zimbabwe People's Party ZPP would like to bring to your attention that Mr Nelson Chamisa is using the icon on our logo. This is a cause for concern for us because we have seen that he is now using this on his video postings which we saw on his official Facebook Page.

The formation of Zimbabwe People's Party ZPP involved sending a letter, logo, constitution and the WHITE DOVE icon to ZEC Chairperson as per ZEC regulations. ZEC sends out a list of animals, physical features and plants that cannot be used by political parties as icons and this information is also on the official ZEC website for all to see. ZEC informed us that they do not acknowledge parties that bring similar icons and our acknowledgement was achieved on that basis. We would want to know if ZEC acknowledged Mr Nelson Chamisa to use the WHITE DOVE as his icon just like us. The icon on his party logo and letterheads we have seen do not have a white dove so are surprised by his latest move of tempering with our party's property. ZEC needs to investigate this matter and take the necessary action to protect the electorate from misinformation and the confusion that comes with it.

Mr Chamisa's use of our icon has already brought confusion to our members. We hope he will pull down his video in question and stop using the white dove in future. We look forward to hearing from ZEC in this regard and we are happy to refer you to page 2 of this letter for evidence regarding this matter.
