THE Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (Zacc) on Friday took Mashonaland Central Provincial mining director Tariro Ndlovu to court over abuse of office allegations involving a suspected imposter, Chantelle Mnangagwa.

Ndlovu appeared before Bindura provincial magistrate Tinashe Ndokera, who granted him free bail.

Prosecutor Clement Kuwanda alleged that sometime in November last year, Ndlovu received an application for a special mining grant from Mnangagwa.

The special grant had co-ordinates encroaching into Wickman 23 Mine owned by John Maungwa. Maungwa owned the special grant since 2016 under certificate number 28647.

It is further alleged that Ndlovu, working in cahoots with Mangwiro Sibanda, pegged the area knowing the existence of Wickman 23, recommended issuance of another special grant to the Mines and Mining Development permanent secretary.

The accused recommended that special grant number 7580 be approved in the name of Mnangagwa, a move inconsistent with the duty of a provincial mining director as he allegedly favoured the imposter at the expense of Maungwa.

He will be back in court after two weeks.
