Police have arrested robbers and thieves who have been terrorising residents of the greater part of Harare - recovering property worth more than $12 000.

Harare police spokesperson Memory Pamire on Friday led journalists to the recovered goods, which included television sets, radio, blankets, among other household goods.

"We can confirm that police have arrested four people in connection with a spat of house breaking incidences that have rocked Harare, especially in Hatfield, Epworth and the surrounding environs… these people were in the habit of attacking homes getting away with valuables which we have recovered," she said.

The quartet include a juvenile aged (16), who could not be named due to his age, Trust Charakupa (21), Christopher Tawengwa (22) and one Rickmore, who was arrested hours before journalists arrived to view the recovered property.

According to police, the team arrested on different occasions was in the business of breaking into people's homes, but luck ran out on Wednesday night when members of the neighbourhood watch, who were carrying out patrols in Epworth and pounced on one of the robbers.

Meanwhile, Pamire said police were inviting the public who had lost their goods in Epworth and surrounding areas to visit Breaside Police Station to identify any of the recovered goods.

"We urge our people to report any robbery cases, and items that they would have lost in the process, this would assist us when we recover the goods," she said.
