The National Social Security Authority (NSSA) denies that it still owes pensioners grocery vouchers allowances backdated to June.

NSSA deputy director for Marketing and Communications Tendai Mutseyikwa said those still complaining over non-payment should check bank statements for the month of June.

He said their money was paid once off.

"We no longer owe anyone, there were no grocery vouchers but allowances paid to people's accounts, those complaining should check their bank statement on June 20, every pensioner on the payroll was given the allowance. It was a once off payment of $3 200," said Mutseyikwa.

A pensioner, Patrick Malunga said he was omitted from the list and that he has been to NSSA offices on several occasions since June.

He said he has been promised that the matter is being looked into but nothing has been forthcoming.

"There are a number of us and we were told that there is a list that came from Harare indicating we have not been paid. We tried to make a follow up with our Bulawayo branch but nothing is forthcoming," said Malunga.
